Vacation Bible School

Back in June our church had its Vacation Bible School. The theme was "Game Day Central-Where Heroes are Made". It was a sports themed week, full of fun! I taught the preschool class. I had between 10-14 kids a day. I had a lot of fun, and I know all of my kids did too! There are some pictures of the closing ceremony and just some snapshots of my kids in the room where I worked. You can see them if you click on Our Photo Albums.

Thankful for healthy kids!

This is a fun picture of some of our kids and there friends at the park! We met several friends there after one of the little girls in the photo was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes. We have such a good support group of friends and family who support us in everything we need or want! Just remember there are always people out there who are struggling with health issues or heart issues. I guess I am saying all this because little Alyssa story touched my heart and allowed me to see how I could care more and love more. I hope seeing these smiling faces will encourage you to be thankful for the healthy children you have. Maybe it will also encourage you to reach out to someone who is not as fortunate as you are, and love or care for them as Christ loves and cares for you!

Pray for Sergeant Rich Myers and Family

I know we all have someone that we know who is serving in the military in Iraq or Afghanistan. We have family members there currently. Sometimes it takes something to hit really close to home to have a real impact on our lives. A precious family at our church is being separated from their dad for the next 14-15 months. He is Sergeant Rich Myers. He is in the army reserves. He has been sent to Iraq to help in training the Iraq police. He has a lovely wife, Andrea, and three small children, Emma, Connor, and Gannon. If you have room on your prayer list add him and his family.

Playin' outside

The kids have been busy this summer so far. Mostly playing outside, riding their bikes and such. Our big pool died last year. We still haven't replaced it. All we have is a little wading pool. Oh, well it is amazing that kids can have fun in such a little amount of water! There are a few pictures of some of the kids playing in the pool in our photo albums!

Pictures for Father's Day

Tim has been bugging me to get the kids pictures made, so he can have something to show off at work. I decided to take them to Target. I bought him a photo frame keychain, plus a new plastic insert for his wallet. We also took the pictures and made him a bookmark for his Bible. I think that one was his favorite. Anyway you can see the photos in our photo albums.

Summer Reading at the Library

Every summer the kids can not wait for the summer reading program at the library to start. This year the theme is pirates. The kids are rewarded for every 20 books they read/or read to, with a free book. Isabelle is leading the pack with 68 books read so far. The program was kicked off with a huge pirate party. The library had a funny story teller, face painting, free eye patches, etc. I had my first taste of the preteens ( I think). We all dressed up at home and every one looked so good. When we arrived at the library Jesse saw a friend from school. He instantly ripped off his costume and did not want to be seen with me and my "daycare":) I made him put his stuff back on for a picture but you can tell he is not really happy about it. I knew the day was coming when it would not be so cool for him to hang out with me. Oh well, he still needed me to help him find the books from the card catalog. I guess I still good for something!

Celebration at the Station

On Sunday of Memorial day weekend we all went to "Celebration at the Station". This is a free patriotic concert by the Kansas City Symphony on the lawn in front of Union Station. The Liberty Memorial is directly across the street. The atmosphere is just awesome. We have gone the past couple of years and I hope this becomes a long time family tradition. We enjoyed the wonderful music along with 30-50,000 other Kansas Citians! Believe it or not, in a crowd that size we ran into several friends and even some family members. The kids were so well behaved! Jesse and Isabelle enjoyed going down and visiting the symphony "petting zoo". Jesse will be in beginning orchestra next year, so he had fun trying out the different instruments. I think the trumpet would be a good choice for him. At dark the concert continues with the largest fireworks display in Kansas City. The symphony plays with the fireworks and the effect gives you goosebumps! We had so much fun I wish you all were here with us. If any one ever comes to visit us on Memorial Day then you can be sure we will take you to The Celebration at the Station. You can see lots of pictures in our photo albums!

Loose Park Spray Park

There is a great park near the Plaza called Loose Park. The kids and I love to spend time there when we can. There is playground equipment, a duck pond, lots of open spaces, roses, fountains, and this awesome spray park! One day we met Tim for lunch. After we ate and Tim went back to work, we played in the water!

Busy Week

This past week was a busy one. Sunday was Jesse and Isabelle's piano recital at school. They both did a wonderful job! Monday I watched Audrey one of my friend Jennifer's little girls. Tuesday it rained so we stayed home. That night Jesse and Isabelle had awards night at school. They both received awards in lots of subjects. Jesse was also awarded the Christian Character award for his classroom. Isabelle received the Christian Character award for the lower elementary grades! We are very proud. On Wednesday I watched Nate, my friend Andrea's little boy. He is two weeks older than the twins. We had lots of fun! Thursday I went with Isabelle's class on a field trip. They were just going to the park so I took Courtney, Sarah and Seth along. We had lots of fun. Friday I spent cleaning and getting ready for Saturday. Tim's parents celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Saturday. We had a wonderful party for them. Tim's sisters worked really hard to make it very special. I have posted pictures on the kids blog spots and lots of photos in our photo albums!

Rodeo Roundup

A couple of Saturdays ago I took the kids to a country church who was hosting a Kids Rodeo. We had so much fun. The weather was perfect, and everyone was so nice. They had cow patty throwing contest, stick horse racing, cow milking contest, a petting zoo, a moonwalk, and lots of carnival type games. All of the pictures are in our Photo Album!
